Toastmaster of the evening, Dear fellow members and most welcome guests. Good Evening~

I’m pleased to be the Ah-Counter of tonight’s meeting. My job is help you cure your bad habit of making “Vocalized pauses”, They are sounds like “ah”,”er” and “em” or words like “well” “and”, “but” and “you know”… et cetera. These unnecessary annoying sounds and words are the so-called “Ahs”. The misuse of gender – “She” and “He” is also considered as Ahs.

I’ll count the number of the “Ahs” I hear you make. At the end of the meeting, I will make a report for you. If you are a member, you will be fined NT$2 for each “Ahs”. The maximum fine is NT$20. There is no fine for the guests.
